Youth & Community Development

Target: Displaced and vulnerable youth aged 15 to 30 in Kampala

Approach: Education pathways, mentorship, vocational skills, and livelihood support

Displaced youth in Kampala face a specific set of barriers: they often lack documentation to access formal education, have interrupted schooling histories, and are caught between childhood and adulthood with no clear pathway into the economy. The Youth Development Programme is designed to meet them where they are and build pathways forward.

What the Programme Delivers

Education bridging: remedial and accelerated learning support for youth with interrupted schooling
Vocational and digital skills: practical training in trades, technology, and digital literacy that opens doors to employment and self-employment
Mentorship: pairing youth with established professionals and community leaders who provide guidance, networks, and role modelling
Psychosocial support: group sessions specifically designed for the experience of young people who have experienced displacement and loss
Business incubation: for youth with entrepreneurial ideas, structured support to develop and launch small enterprises
Civic engagement: building young people’s confidence and capacity to participate in community life and advocacy
