Women Economic Empowerment

Target: Refugee and vulnerable women in Kampala and surrounding areas

Approach: Psychosocial support, safe spaces, skills training, economic empowerment, and advocacy

The Women Empowerment Programme is the foundation’s founding pillar and its largest in terms of reach. It delivers integrated support that addresses the full cycle of what a woman who has experienced conflict and displacement needs: a safe space to process her experience, practical skills she can use, and a pathway to economic independence.

What the Programme Delivers

Safe spaces and psychosocial support: structured group and individual sessions, peer support circles, and trauma-informed facilitation in Arabic and English
Skills training: vocational skills aligned to the Kampala economy, including tailoring, food processing, soap and cosmetics production, and digital literacy
Financial literacy and entrepreneurship: understanding money, managing income, starting and growing a small business
Health education: building on Dr. Einas’s pharmacy background, the programme includes education about women’s health, safe products, and body autonomy
Legal literacy: understanding rights as a refugee, as a woman, and as a business owner in Uganda
Leadership and civic participation: building the skills and confidence to advocate for oneself and others
